Addiction in Older Adults

/, Health/Addiction in Older Adults

Substance addiction and abuse are two of the major problems of today’s world. The increasing speed of lives has a lead way for more dependence on things like drugs and alcohol for people seeking refuge in temporary things for their peace of mind. It is generally a conception that the onset of this addiction is in the teen years when one is immature and incapable of making the right life choices. But in many cases, it is observed that normal, non-adduct teens grew up to be addicts in their elder years. Situations like these are difficult to understand as people with seemingly normal lives are suddenly seen falling down the abyss of this abuse. This problem in older adults requires recognition and must be talked about in awareness lectures and seminars so that it can be minimized if not eradicated.
